LOCATION

LA RAPITA and DELTEBRE, CATALONIA

LA RAPITA

We highly recommend our guests stay in Montse’s hometown of La Rapita during their visit. Set between the Montsia mountains and the Bay of Alfacsthe town is located just a short distance from the wedding venue (in the town of Deltebre), and will give guests the best opportunity to take advantage of local beaches as well as immerse themselves in the local culture, with many local restaurants and bars within walking distance of each other. Originally founded in the 17th Century to be a major port supplying the Spanish colonies, it was never finished but several old neoclassical buildings remain in the centre of town, and the town’s fishing roots remain strong.

A shuttle will be arranged to collect guests from La Rapita and take them to the wedding venue on the day, as well as returning to town at several selected times towards the end of the night.

THE EBRE RIVER

The town of La Rapita sits at the very edge of the Delta de l'Ebre, a large fertile plain important for the cultivation of rice, citrus fruits and production of salt.

Small towns dotted throughout the rice fields, such as the town of Deltebre, overlook the Ebre Delta Natural Park, which is home to hundreds of species of birds and other wildlife.

Following the Ebre River upstream, the surrounding lands, known as the Terres de l'Ebre, boast a rich cultural heritage, encompassing many ancient riverside towns, castles, and vineyards, and once marked the western border of the early Roman Empire.

GETTING THERE

The nearest airports are located in the Catalan capital city of Barcelona and in Reus near the city of Tarragona.

  • By Car:

Car rental is available in Barcelona Airport and can be booked online (e.g. Kayak Car Rentals).

*Note, a car isn’t necessary to get around La Rapita but may be needed if travelling around the area before or after the wedding.

    By Bus:

By far the easiest and most reasonable way to travel is by coach. Hife run a comfortable direct service from downstairs in Terminal 1 to La Rapita town centre (Hife English Site).

Make sure to select “Barcelona Aeropuerto” as the origin station.

    By Train:

There is a train from the main central station of Barcelona, however this takes much longer than the bus and is far more complication and so we don’t recommend this option.

  • By Car (1 hour):

Car rental is available in Reus airport and can be booked online (e.g. Kayak Car Rental).

*Note, a car isn’t necessary to get around La Rapita but may be needed if planning on travelling around the area before or after the wedding.

    By Bus (1.5 - 2 hours):

Hife run a coach service from the nearby town of Tarragona (15 mins taxi ride from the Airport). The bus takes 1.5 hours and leaves from Plaza Imperial Tarraco station (stop 8/9). This can be booked from the Hife website.

    By Train:

Again, we don’t recommend travelling by train.
